8th Annual Mardi Gras Carnival Set on Tybee Island Saturday, January 30th

Tybee Island, a charming beach destination just 20 minutes east of historic downtown Savannah, will host its 8th Annual Mardi Gras Carnival on Saturday, January  30, 2016. This fun, family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Celebrate the unique history of the ancient Mardi Gras traditions, which dates back thousands of years, and includes Carnival-goers lining the street for a boisterous parade featuring fantastical floats, live music from The Versatile Band and The Hypnotics, colorful costumes, fun contests, Cajun cuisine and more! Dawn your favorite purple, gold and green and join Tybee Island for this lively event.

Mardi Gras Tybee Street Party
Saturday, Jan. 30 from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Tybrisa Roundabout (at south end of island on Tybrisa Street and Butler Avenue)

Mardi Gras Tybee Parade
Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m.
Butler Avenue to Tybrisa Street

Grab a spot along Butler Avenue to enjoy Tybee’s Mardi Gras Parade as it processes down Butler Avenue from Memorial Park to Tybrisa Street featuring colorful floats, plenty of beads and marching bands!

After the Tybee Mardi Gras Parade, a costume contest will take place in the festival area at the Tybrisa Roundabout. Winners will be crowned the 2016 Mardi Gras Tybee King and Queen. The King and Queen will then host the street dance fun with music from The Hypnotics!
