Greenline Architecture recently won two design awards presented by the American Institute of Architects Savannah Chapter. The firm received two of the five presented awards including an Excellence Award for the renovation of The Brice Hotel, and a Citation Award for the renovation of the historic Philbrick-Eastman House. The winners were announced at AIA Savannah’s Design Awards Banquet on Jan. 14.

The Brice Hotel, a former Coca-Cola bottling plant, sits in the heart of downtown on Washington Square. The project consisted of the rehabilitation of an existing hotel that maintained the structure’s exterior historic features while renovating the interior to create a more modern feel.  Greenline team members for The Brice Hotel included John Deering, Principal in Charge, and Josh W. Bull, Project Manager.

The renovation of the historic Philbrick-Eastman House, a 12,000 square foot Greek Revival mansion on Savannah's Chippewa Square to accommodate The Parker Companies corporate offices, sought to both modernize and preserve. The renovation paid reverence to the building’s second use of office space while preserving its character-defining features and capturing the spirit of evolution in one of the Historic District's most prominent buildings. The design team consisted of John Deering, Principal in Charge, and Douglas Roberts, Project Manager.

“It is truly an honor to have our projects recognized in this format by our local design community,” said John Deering, Greenline Principal and Director of Design. “Both The Brice and the Philbrick-Eastman House renovations mean a great deal to our firm and our work within the Historic District. We’re happy these projects have been honored and that the preservation efforts of the design team and the owners have not gone unnoticed,” Deering said.

AIA Savannah’s Design Awards Program recognizes outstanding architectural design by Savannah architects. The purpose of the awards program is to honor architects, clients and consultants who work together to achieve design excellence.
