Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, January 8th, 2016

On the heels of a successful first holiday shopping season, Ben Carter Enterprises says plans for Phase II of Tanger Outlets Savannah and surrounding outparcel development are well underway with stores such as H&M and Forever 21 opening Summer 2016. The outlet mall is located near the junction of I-16 and I-95 in Pooler.

Since Phase I opened less than a year ago, retailers are reporting higher than anticipated sales with many exceeding initial projections for the fourth quarter.
Highly trafficked stores, such as Savannah Candy Kitchen, are regularly performing 25 percent over projections.

“We love being part of the Savannah area’s overall growth,” said Stan Strickland, president of Savannah’s Candy Kitchen. “Our store has seen heavy foot traffic from both tourists and locals, especially over the holiday shopping season, and we look forward to 2016.”

Ben Carter Enterprises, the firm representing the 20 peripheral land sites surrounding the outlet mall, says outparcel dispositions are strong with 83 percent committed. As part of the outparcel development, Applebee’s is slated to open this year. The remaining 17 percent is currently available for restaurant, fast food, retail, automotive, entertainment and other uses.

In addition, construction on Phase II of Tanger Outlets Savannah is on track to deliver in Spring 2016. Phase II will bring approximately five new retailers to the development. DPR Construction, the firm leading building efforts, said they started the roofing and exterior façade installation in December. The storefront window system installation will begin at the end of January.

“Tanger Outlets Savannah continues to perform well across the board,” said Quito Anderson, CEO of Ben Carter Enterprises. “Outparcel sales and Phase II leasing remains very active - a direct reflection of the success of Phase I.”
