On Monday, December 7, 2015, the leadership team at Wet Willie’s Management Corp. including founder and CEO Bill Dickinson, Vice President Emily Dickinson and Joe Ann Brandt made a donation in the amount of $35,482.78 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

In October of 2011, Wet Willie’s locations across the U.S. kicked-off the inaugural, month-long “Koozies for Boobies” fundraising campaign and has since made it an annual tradition to donate the proceeds to Susan G. Komen, the nation’s largest proponent of breast cancer awareness, research and prevention. This latest donation from Wet Willie’s brings the grand total to more than $100,000 since 2011.

“The annual Koozies for Boobies fundraising campaign is truly a customer and staff-driven event,” said Emily Dickinson. “Since the beginning, they have stood behind our mission one hundred percent to raise as much money as possible so we can make a real difference in the lives of those battling breast cancers now and in the future, as well as survivors who must remain vigilant for the remainder of their lives.”

“Raising money for breast cancer research and awareness really hits home for me as my mother experienced a breast cancer scare a few years ago,” said Brian Sigman, a Savannah Wet Willie’s staff member. “I’m so proud to be a part of the Koozies for Boobies fundraising campaign and a company that believes in doing good for others.”

Dozens of Wet Willie’s staff members all have personal stories to tell on how breast cancer has touched the lives of friends and families. Savannah Wet Willie’s staff member, Barron Brantly, had a family member die from breast cancer. “Any chance I get to support the Susan G. Komen organization makes me happy,” he said.

Atlantic City Wet Willie’s Regional Manager, Mark Meakim, recounted “When I heard our company was sponsoring events for this charity, I was overwhelmed with excitement and extremely proud to be associated with it. My very close sister-in-law is a six year breast cancer survivor and I have seen firsthand what this disease can do to families but I have also seen the powerful influence one person can do to inspire millions.”

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the incredible team at Wet Willie’s and especially grateful to their staff,” said Aileen Gabbey, executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Coastal Georgia. “They are a true community partner with a huge philanthropic spirit. Thanks to their support, our organization will continue to provide resources for heightened awareness, early detection, improved treatment methods and increased access to breast health services.

This award-winning collection of daiquiri bars and full-service restaurants, headquartered in Savannah, Ga., has been able to surpass their donation amount to the Susan G. Komen organization year after year. As the Wet Willie’s organization continues to expand, with several new locations in the pipeline, the leadership team and staff members hope to raise even more money in the years to come.
