2016 Encourage Health Education Series Speakers Named by Enmarket and Healthy Savannah

Enmarket and Healthy Savannah are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2016 Encourage Health Education Series. This marks the third year for the speaker series, highlighting experts in the field of health, wellness, exercise and nutrition.

The series will feature four presentations throughout the year, from the area’s most respected experts sharing insights on nutrition, fitness and general tips for healthy living.

Tuesday, April 19
Kevin Klinkenberg presents, “Going Old School: Walk Your Way to Better Health.” His presentation shares tips for building a lifestyle around walking and the positive results this form of exercise brings to your physical and mental health. Klinkenberg is the Executive Director of the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority and is also a published author, Why I Walk: Taking a Step in the Right Direction.

Tuesday, June 21
Dr. Ellen Blossman presents, “Eat Well and Boost Your Energy with Phytochemicals.” This presentation, designed to promote better overall health, highlights the role of phytochemicals in the food we eat. These natural compounds are plant chemicals that have protective or disease preventive properties. Blossman is Co-Founder of Blue Heron Holistic Healing in Savannah.

Tuesday, August 30
Denise Grabowski presents, “10 Ways Buildings Affect Your Mission to Healthy Life.” This session introduces the idea of the WELL Building Standard, which is grounded in medical research and based around seven main factors: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. Grabowski is President and CEO of Symbioscity in Savannah.

Tuesday, October 25
Bauer Coslick, L.Ac. presents, “10 Ways to Reduce Inflammation in the Body to Improve Longevity Through Acupuncture Practices.” This presentation explores the issues with chronic inflammation, the role it plays in disease and ways to address it with acupuncture, herbs and nutrition. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as a safe and effective treatment for injuries, orthopedic conditions, and acute and chronic pain. Coslick is the owner of Vitality Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine.

The 2016 Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series takes place at the Savannah Morning News Auditorium located at 1375 Chatham Parkway. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.
