Bethesda Academy Bowling Team Earns All State Honors at SCISA Annual Team Bowling State Championships

Bethesda Academy Blazers Bowling Team finished this year’s season at the annual team bowling state championships on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Gamecock Lanes in Sumter, S.C., where the team posted its highest ever three-game series recording a 372 score in the team tournament. This year’s bowling team members included Bethesda students: Sean Carter, Ian Carter, Keith Davis, Andre Durrah, Daniel Rowell, and Robert Andrews.

Bethesda students and brothers, Sean and Ian Carter, both qualified for the SCISA individual championship tournament which included 29 competing students representing from 11 schools from the SCISA (six-AAA, one-AA, and four-A-level schools).

Sean Carter bowled a clean first game in the three-game series and recorded a 204, while Ian Carter reeled in seven consecutive strikes during his first game and recorded a 232, the second highest score of competing students in the first game.  Sean Carter finished the series with a score of 512 and sixth place overall and Ian Carter finished the series with a score of 516, earning him a fifth place finish.

As a result of their individual top scores, both Sean and Ian Carter earned SCISA Tournament All State Honors, taking two of the top positions in the state for the 2015-2016 season. This is the second consecutive year Sean Carter earned an All State Honors.
