Dr. Dorothée Mertz-Weigel Appointed Director of International Education at Armstrong State University

Dr. Dorothée Mertz-Weigel has been appointed to the position of Director of International Education at Armstrong State University. In this role, Mertz-Weigel will maintain and develop study abroad and exchange programs, bring figures of cultural importance to campus and encourage international students to commit to Armstrong.
 
An associate professor of French Language and Literature, Mertz-Weigel joined Armstrong in 2007. She has served on the Foreign Language Academic Advisory Committee, the Interdisciplinary Studies Committee and the Faculty Senate. Honored with the H. Dean Propst Award in 2010 for her efforts in student academic and extra-curricular engagement, Mertz-Weigel introduced an eMajor in French program to Armstrong’s campus last fall and directs the annual Francophone Film Festival, which is now in its eighth year.
 
Mertz-Weigel holds a doctorate in French Literature from Ohio State University.
