The Gretchen Greene School of Dance will be moving into a brand new building soon. The locally owned Wilmington Island business has announced they have engaged the Dewitt Tilton Group to begin construction on a new 5000 sq. ft. studio on nearby Whitemarsh Island. The new studio will be larger and more accessible to accommodate the different levels and needs of the students.

“We had been continually expanding over the past few years but had simply run out of space,” said Trina Dodd, co-owner of the Gretchen Greene School of Dance. “We currently have three dance rooms and the new facility will have four larger rooms to accommodate more students.”

The dance school was established in 1969 and is one of the longest running businesses on Wilmington Island. It is currently located at 51 Johnny Mercer Blvd. The new location is at 1007 Bryan Woods Loop on Whitemarsh Island, near the intersection of Islands Expressway and Bryan Woods Road.

“We were honored to work on this project because we know it will positively touch so many lives in our community,” remarked Kim Thomas, director of operations at Dewitt Tilton Group. “What will make the new dance studio stand out is not only the flow and function of the building but the curb appeal. The design features a fully covered, two-lane wide, drop off/pick up station for the dance students.”

“The team at Dewitt Tilton Group has been great with solving problems during the design build,” added Dodd. ”They cut through red tape and helped us with real estate and closing issues, enabling the process to go smoothly and efficiently.”

The construction of the new studio is scheduled to be completed this summer.
