Staff Report From Savannah CEO
Friday, February 26th, 2016
On Saturday, February 27, families around the lowcountry are invited to celebrate everything Dr. Seuss, from his magical characters to the joyfulness and lessons in each of his stories, during “Seuss Fest.” Event attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character, in honor of the children's book author. The event will will take place from 10 am to 4pm at Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.
“For nearly 80 years, Dr. Seuss books have encouraged people of all ages to jump into his wacky world of tongue-twisters and simply READ! Each year at Seuss Fest we celebrate everything from Seuss’s playful rhyming to the underlying themes some of his stories address,” said Jessica Paterson, Savannah Children’s Museum Operations Supervisor. “Here at SCM, we admire his innate ability to make early literacy exciting and fun for kids and adults alike.”
Our on-site museum educators will lead the group with Seuss stories, games and activities. Activities of note include a “Truffula Tree” making station and an “Oh The Places You’ll Go” area with dress-up costumes and a photo opportunity. Use #SeussFest2016 to share the experience on social media!
Savannah Children’s Theatre will also share musical performances from Seussical the Musical at 12pm and 2pm. Admission to “Seuss Fest” is included in the cost of regular admission to Savannah Children’s Museum, $7.50 for all guests 18 months and older. This event is free for Coastal Heritage Society members.
