Savannah Celebrates Scottish Culture at the 40th Annual Scottish Games May 7th

The 40th Annual Savannah Scottish Games will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Bethesda Academy on historic Bynuh’s Field. Attendees of the Scottish Games will be able to fully immerse themselves in deeply rooted Scottish culture through arts, entertainment, and traditional Scottish ale and food. This year’s event will feature entertainment by Stewart & Winfield and The Accomplices.

The Savannah Scottish Games are the fourth oldest Scottish Games in the Southeastern United States. The games feature traditional Scottish dance performances by Highland dancers, traditional heavy athletic events like the Caber Toss and Hammer Throw, Border Collie skill demonstrations, and a wide variety of Celtic art available for purchase.

Over 20 Scottish Clans from throughout the country will be represented during the event, and attendees will also have the opportunity to discover their own Scottish and Celtic connections at the genealogy tent.

The Savannah Scottish Games will start at 9:00 a.m. and closing ceremonies will take place at 4:30 p.m.
