The law firm of Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe, LLP, is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2016 and will formally commemorate the occasion throughout the year beginning with a reception on March 9 in Wright Square. 

The firm was founded in Savannah in 1961 and during its distinguished history, attorneys from Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe have played an important role in the development of the business and legal community in Savannah, Coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry. Particularly through the litigation and real estate practices of its attorneys, the firm has been involved in landmark transactions and decisions that helped shape Savannah’s legal and business landscape.

In preparation for the 55^th anniversary, the firm updated its brand with a new logo designed in 2015 and launched a new website in February with an increased emphasis on individual attorneys and interactivity. In addition to the new logo, Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe incorporated the phrase, “Trusted Lawyers For Generations,” to reflect the firm’s continuous commitment to its clients for more than five decades.

“The feelings that I have for our firm are secondary only to my family,” said Senior Partner Aron G. Weiner, one of the firm’s founding partners. “As we grew over the years, we always focused our intentions on providing a very high quality of legal services in a professional and ethical manner. I am both pleased and proud that we have continuously maintained our high standards, and it is my hope that our firm will continue to provide legal services of a very high quality for many years to come.”

The firm was founded as Friedman & Weiner, P.C., with only two attorneys, a secretary and a receptionist, and then later became Friedman, Haslam & Weiner, P.C. The firm has expanded to included 15 lawyers, and attorneys from Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe have been privileged to serve as counsel for a multitude of influential organizations as well as serve in leadership roles in the community that have shaped Savannah's appearance and growth.

Greenberg. “It takes constant nurturing and a combination of goals, futures, relationships, attitudes and desires. It takes a commitment to the ideal of a shared experience in pursuit of a profession, and it is the opposite of “go it alone”. Our 55th anniversary marks the achievement of each and every person who has made his or her contribution to what the firm is today.”

Service to the general community has been a hallmark of the firm for many years, and attorneys from Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe have served as chair of the Board of Regents of the University of Georgia, State Representatives, State Court Judgeship of Chatham County and as president and board member of a innumerable local non-profit organizations. Partners in the firm have been elected President of the Savannah Bar Association, and members of the firm have been honored as members of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia and the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
