Coastal Empire Beer Hosts Cheers For Charity with Ogeechee Riverkeeper

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, April 13th, 2016

Savannah area residents are invited to raise a glass – and some much-needed funds – at the first in a series of “Cheers for Charity” fundraising events organized by Coastal Empire Beer Company.  The company’s inaugural event will take place during Earth month - April, and will appropriately benefit Ogeechee Riverkeeper.

From 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, Coastal Empire Beer Company will host special tours of their regionally renowned Savannah brewery at a discounted rate. Riverkeeper friends and supporters will get 30 percent off the regular $15 fee, and each admission includes 36 ounces of onsite samples and a souvenir beer growler to go. ORK will receive part of the proceeds from “Cheers for Charity” to continue funding their education programs, outreach efforts and advocacy.
Guests will enjoy munching on light snacks and sipping a variety of Coastal Empire Beer Company’s artfully crafted, refreshing brews, such as their signature Savannah Brown Ale, Tybee Island Blonde, Inshore Slam IPA and Southern Delight Praline Amber. Ogeechee Riverkeeper Executive Director Emily Markesteyn will be on hand to provide attendees with information on ORK’s plans, activities and initiatives.

A longtime supporter of efforts to promote clean water quality in Coastal Georgia, the microbrewery has previously teamed with ORK on fundraisers and celebratory events. Coastal Empire Beer Company is owned by brothers Chris and Kevin Haborak, who founded the operation in 2010. Markesteyn expressed gratitude for the brewers’ commitment to community stewardship and willingness to bolster environmental causes.

“Our upcoming ‘Cheers for Charity’ at Coastal Empire Beer Company is a great opportunity for area residents to learn more about Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s important advocacy efforts while enjoying some fantastic local craft beers. We’re excited to spread the word about what we do, and equally as happy to shine a spotlight on the brewery by drawing folks in for tours. Chris and Kevin are great community partners, and we always look forward to working with them again during Earth month,” Markesteyn said.
