The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation on April 22 recognized Greenline Architecture’s renovation of the historic Philbrick-Eastman House among the best of preservation in Georgia with an award for Excellence in Rehabilitation.

The Philbrick-Eastman House, originally built in 1844 and located at 17 West McDonough Street, involved the renovation of the landmark 12,000 square foot Greek Revival mansion on Savannah’s Chippewa Square to accommodate The Parker Companies new corporate offices. The project captured the spirit of evolution in one of the Historic District’s most prominent buildings by preserving the property’s historic, character-defining features while paying reverence to its second use as an office environment. The design team consisted of owner, Greg Parker, of The Parker Companies, John Deering, Principal in Charge, and Douglas Roberts, Project Manager.

“It is truly an honor to have Greenline’s work recognized on a statewide level by Georgia’s preservation authority,” said Deering, Greenline Principal and Director of Design. “The Georgia Trust is deeply committed to the preservation of historic buildings and places, and this mission aligns so closely with our own firm’s values and philosophies. We’re honored to have our work recognized and grateful that the preservation efforts of the building’s owner and the design team have not gone unnoticed,” Deering said.

Project partners included The Parker Companies, Kuhn Construction Company, Chatham Engineering and DIRTT Environmental Solutions.

For more than 35 years, the Trust has recognized preservation projects and individuals in the state who have made significant contributions to the field of historic preservation. Awards are presented on the basis of the contributions to the community and/or state and on compliance to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
