Friday, April 15th, 2016

Lead Actor of Where Hope Grows, David DeSanctis will be joining the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society as they present their 7th annual Night of Champions. The event will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa – Hotel Grand Ballroom located at 1 Resort Drive. This community event celebrates differently-abled adults, including these with Down syndrome, and recognizes the local businesses that employ those individuals.

LDSS is proud to announce that celebrity chef and author Jamie Deen will return as host. Tickets will be $40 each or $400 for a table of 10.

According to the National Down Syndrome Congress, as many as eighty percent of adults with Down syndrome are unemployed. LDSS hopes through this event and their ongoing awareness campaign, that they can lessen this statistic and increase the level understanding required to recognize the skills and contributions present in these individuals.

Before Night of Champions, David DeSanctis will be appearing at a special screening of “Where Hope Grows” on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Savannah Arts Academy located at 500 Washington Ave, Savannah, Ga. This event will be sponsored by Savannah AMBUCS, the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society and the Coastal Center for Developmental Services.

Premiering in theaters last year, “Where Hope Grows” is about a baseball player whose professional career was cut short due to his personal problems and is suddenly awakened and invigorated by a young-man with Down syndrome (DeSanctis) who works at the local grocery store.
