Parker’s, a nationally recognized convenience store leader, recently won a Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation for its ambitious renovation of the historic Philbrick-Eastman House at 17 W. McDonough St. in Savannah, Ga. The honor was presented at The Georgia Trust’s 39th Annual Preservation Awards in Atlanta on April 22.

Currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, Parker’s received one of 28 top awards recognizing the best preservation projects in Georgia. The Philbrick-Eastman House, which serves as the corporate headquarters for Parker’s, also won a Historic Savannah Foundation Preservation Award in 2015.

“We are deeply honored to receive this statewide honor from The Georgia Trust,” said company President and CEO Greg Parker. “We felt a responsibility to restore this landmark Savannah building to its former glory. We paid attention to every detail to ensure that the restoration of this treasured Savannah mansion respects the structure’s history while enabling us to expand our operations in America’s most beautiful city.”

Under Parker’s leadership, the 15,000-square-foot structure was renovated with remarkable attention to period detail. The company moved into the new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in the heart of Savannah’s National Landmark Historic District in February 2015.

Built by Irish-born architect Charles Cluskey on one of Savannah’s original trust lots, the elegant Philbrick-Eastman House features extensive use of stately columns, decorative iron fencing with medallions of famous Americans, elaborate crown moldings, 14-foot ceilings, breathtaking woodwork and original oak floors.

This Greek revival mansion, originally built between 1844 and 1847, stands apart as one of Savannah’s iconic historic structures, overlooking scenic Chippewa Square. Greenline Architecture, Inc. served as the lead architect, and Ralph Kuhn of Kuhn Construction Co. served as the general contractor for the renovation project.

Parker’s has been ranked on Inc.’s elite list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for four consecutive years and recently earned the Regional Economic Impact Award from the Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. Company President and CEO Greg Parker has been honored by Convenience Store News as the Tech Executive of the Year and by the Savannah Chamber of Commerce as the Entrepreneur of the Year.
