Savannah State's Regional Economic Impact up 10%

According to a recent report, Savannah State University’s output impact in the regional economy is approximately $180 million – an increase of about $18 million over last year’s figures. Additionally, since last year, more than 200 jobs now exist due to institutional-related spending.

The economic impact report for fiscal year 2015 was commissioned by the University System of Georgia and considers factors such as institutional expenditures, employment, operational supplies, student spending and capital projects.

USG’s total economic impact on the state was $15.5 billion in FY 2015 according to the most recent study conducted by the Selig Center for Economic Growth in the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

The economic impact of the USG is a measure of direct and indirect spending that contributes to the regions served by the System’s colleges and universities.
