Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. to Speak at Savannah Downtown Business Association Meeting

The Savannah Downtown Business Association’s Wednesday, June 8 luncheon will feature Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr.  He will discuss Augusta’s effort to establish its $2 billion Cyber Center for Excellence with military, private and public assets.

Networking begins at 11:30AM and lunch is at 12PM at the Charles Morris Center in Trustees Garden, 10 East Broad Street. During his tenure as mayor, Mayor Davis has engaged Augusta as a “My Brother’s Keeper Community” and launched the first-ever Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment program. In 2015, the inaugural Summer Youth Employment program placed 70 youth in paid summer jobs and workplace skills training programs. He also partnered with the Richmond County School System to begin the Power Lunch Reading Mentor Initiative. In addition, Mayor Davis re-established a college credit based Mayor’s Fellows Program and, keeping his commitment to be accessible to constituents, he hosts a Mayor’s Office Hours program to take City Hall to Augustans in informal settings at small businesses within each Commission district. 

Mayor Davis is an advocate for small business owners and regularly hosts SBA officials, informational meetings and brings resources and technical assistance to Augusta businesses. He started the Annual City of Augusta Easter Egg Drop, and has ensured the continued success of the Augusta Mayor’s Masters Reception.
