Armstrong State University recently hired Dr. Joy Hamm as associate vice president of enrollment services. An accomplished higher education professional with nearly two decades of experience in student affairs and enrollment management, Hamm will provide direct supervision and leadership to the offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid while fostering cohesion among the various departments that support student enrollment. In addition, she will serve as a leader in developing, implementing and monitoring Armstrong’s strategic enrollment, using current and emerging technologies that support state-of-the-art operations and data management.

“Dr. Hamm has a proven record of success in achieving identified strategic goals in new student enrollment, new student retention and graduation goals,” notes Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Georj L. Lewis. “Her strong management and interpersonal skills will serve the Armstrong community well.”

A strong collaborator and successful relationship-builder, Hamm previously served as the dean of student services at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, Ala., where she oversaw a number of offices including Recruiting, Admissions and Registration, Financial Aid, New Student Experience and Orientation, Counseling, Advising and Testing, Student Development, Tutoring and Student Success, Athletics and Campus Security. She also served as the chief conduct officer for the campus, which experienced an average enrollment increase of 8 percent per semester during her time there.

Prior to working at CVCC, Hamm was the assistant dean of students at Georgia Southern University, served on the University Activities Budget Committee and chaired the University Judicial Hearing Board. At Davidson College, she was an advisor to Patterson Court, the governing 14-organization fraternity and sorority council and conduct board. Hamm supervised 13 on-campus lodge facilities, completed the coordination of a $3.3 million renovation housing project and served on the Leadership Program Development Task Force. Similarly, she acted as an area director and advisor to fraternities and sororities at Wingate University.

Hamm earned an Ed.D. in Education Administration from Georgia Southern University, a M.A. in Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a B.A in Psychology and Political Science from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity and a Junior League volunteer.
