Dr. Daniel Deloach, President of the Georgia Medical Society, and Executive Director, CaRita Conner, presented a check for $50,000 from the MagMutual Foundation to Dr. Kelly Erola, Chief Medical Officer of Hospice Savannah, Inc. Dr. Erola accepted the check on behalf of the hospice’s Edel Caregiver Institute, housed at 6000 Business Center Drive, off Chatham Parkway in Savannah. The Institute provides support, hands-on classes and access to many community resources for family caregivers in our community who are overwhelmed by looking after their loved ones.

The MagMutual Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides grant money to benefit the profession of medicine and the delivery of healthcare in the Southeastern region. The Foundation's grant making policies reflect the values of MagMutual Insurance Company, the impact of the practice of medicine in the communities we serve, and the legal requirements governing private foundations.

The $50k grant was awarded to create a public awareness campaign for the Caregiver Institute and to educate the medical and non-medical community on the help and services available through this ground-breaking community resource. The campaign will highlight the pressing needs of caregivers and the special health challenges they face, as well as the new resources available to help them.
