Maritime Bethel at Savannah Hires Patrick Young as Chaplain Intern

The Maritime Bethel at Savannah announces the appointment of Patrick Young to the position of Chaplain Intern. Funds for the Chaplain Intern were awarded to the Maritime Bethel at Savannah by the North American Maritime Ministry Association headed quartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Young earned his Bachelor degree in Sociology attending Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. In addition, Young will receive a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from a Faith Seminary in Washington in May 2017.
Young will hold the position of Chaplain Intern for Maritime Bethel at Savannah until September 30 of this year with an opportunity to continue with the organization after the completion of his training.
Maritime Bethel at Savannah provides ‘a home away from home’ personal and practical support to seafarers who come into our port on big ships from all over the world. They are a Christian faith based nonprofit organization that includes advocacy, spiritual, physical and emotional support although not affiliated to any one church or denomination.
While undertaking his internship with the organization, Young will continue to work as a full-time seminary student at Faith Evangelical College and Seminary in Tacoma, WA where he will earn his Master’s degree. Young has an affinity with seafarers as he has worked as a deckmate from 2007-2009 in Hilton Head and from 2013-2014 in Savannah. Young’s special training also includes a previous Chaplain Internship with the Palmetto Baptist Hospital and Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
