Ogeechee Riverkeeper Announce New Paddle Trip Campaign
Staff Report From Savannah CEO
Friday, July 29th, 2016
Ogeechee Riverkeeper has announced a new fundraising campaign, “Power the Paddle” that will support the organization’s paddle trip program. The non-profit’s goal is to raise $6,500, which will allow Ogeechee Riverkeeper to handle larger groups on the water by purchasing additional kayaks and a new canoe trailer.
In addition to supplying a donation, the top three donors / fundraisers (plus one guest each), will get to take the new kayaks on their first voyage on an exclusive and private paddle trip. The highest donor / fundraiser will be gifted a beautiful, handcrafted Greenland-style paddle donated by master woodworker and Ogeechee Riverkeeper board member, Tim Goodson.
Perks for top donors / fundraisers are only applicable if and when the $6,500 goal is reached by the conclusion of the campaign in October. If donations exceed beyond the $6,500 goal, excess monies will go towards maintaining operation of the program.
Watershed Outreach Coordinator for Ogeechee Rivekerkeeper, Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman said, “Our paddle trips have been amazingly well attended over the last two years, and we are constantly running out of rental boats for people that don’t have their own. There is a tremendous need for these boats and paddles. We appreciate everything this community has done and continues to do for Ogeechee Riverkeeper.”
A separate donation link (here) is set up for donating directly to this initiative. Donors have the opportunity to create their own fundraising page, set their own goal, and share their page with friends and family via social media.
