BankSouth, a top performing community bank in the nation, dropped by Heard Advanced Academy on Thursday, August 11, 2016, to make a donation of school supplies to help students kick off the new school year.

BankSouth donated a selection of book bags, notebooks, rulers, scissors, notebook paper, pencils, pens, glue and a range of supplies typically needed on any given day in the classroom. For teachers, the bank donated stacks of printer paper, hand sanitizer, tissues and many of the items teachers typically supply for classrooms out of their own pockets.

“Our goal here was simply to help pitch in for the classroom essentials students and teachers may need in order to successfully learn and do their work,” said Laura Moore, Savannah market president for BankSouth. “We understand that sometimes students and teachers need a little help, and we just hope we were able to make today a little brighter.”

“The students and faculty at Heard Advanced Academy are so excited and appreciative to receive all of these wonderful school supplies,” said Heard Principal Sylvia Wallis. “We thank BankSouth, its employees, and customers for all of them.”
