Budget Blinds, the largest window coverings franchise in North America with more than 1,000 territories, recently participated in its third episode of Designing Spaces’ Military Makeover. This time, the show’s producers and sponsors surprised Marine Lance Corporal Michael Adams, whose vehicle ran over a double stack anti-tank mine while on tour in Afghanistan.  Michael needed numerous surgeries on his left ankle and wrist, and was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and PTSD. The show helped him with a home that will support him and his family for the rest of their lives.

Military Makeover works hard to find deserving military veterans in need of home renovations as a way of saying “thank you” to our nation’s heroes like LCpl Adams who left the military with an honorable discharge on August 3, 2007. He now works as a certified mechanic and has a three year old daughter with cerebral palsy and acute Autism. Although she is unable to speak, walk or crawl, she is a very happy child.

With a little TLC, including the new child-safe window coverings, the home will make life easier for Michael and his family. To see the final results, watch the three-part series of Designing Spaces’ Military Makeover on Thursdays, beginning August 18 at 7:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television.
