Gaslight Group founders, Brian and Jennifer Huskey, are celebrating the 10-year anniversary since rolling the dice and purchasing a small restaurant for sale in Savannah’s historic district at 325 E. Bay St. In 2006, the couple relocated from their hometown in Knoxville, Tenn., and opened B. Matthew’s Eatery and converted the streetside restaurant into a thriving and award-winning hot-spot for both locals and tourists.

“To have the unique opportunity to celebrate 10 years in the restaurant business is in itself a remarkable feat,” said Brian Huskey, founder and co-owner of the Gaslight Group, the parent company of B. Matthew’s Eatery. “However, for Jennifer and I, we believe B. Matthew’s anniversary is more reflective of Savannah’s growth and the incredible strides our city has made towards something greater.”

The “greater” Huskey is referencing is not only Savannah’s exponential tourism growth, but also Savannah’s food evolution and greater appetite for quality dining options. “While tourist dollars are an important part of our success, locals support of our restaurants have meant the most in terms of loyalty and critical feedback we’ve utilized to fine-tune our offerings. Without local support, we would not be celebrating 10-years of opening B. Matthew’s and the subsequent successes of Gaslight Group’s sister restaurants and bars," said Huskey.

The Huskey’s Gaslight Group is a central brand for their collection of distinguished independent restaurants and bars in Savannah, which includes B. Matthew’s Eatery, The 5 Spot, Blowin’ Smoke and Abe’s on Lincoln. Each neighborhood restaurant and bar reflects the owner's commitment to offering patrons a casual and comfortable place to gather, socialize, relax and enjoy authentic Southern cuisine unique to each location. They have worked hard to create unique menus for sophisticated palates and earned notable mentions along the way in Southern Living, USA Today, AAA, The Local Palate, Savannah Magazine, South, Savannah Morning News, and EMMY nominated Eat It and Like It, among others.

The Gaslight Group has been honored with numerous community accolades including the 2011 Small Business of the Year Rising Star Award from the Small Business Assistance Corporation and the 2015 Hospitality Award from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce. The Gaslight Group employs 130 people today, up from 12 employees in 2006, and is an avid and ongoing contributor to community causes and nonprofits.

In 2016 alone, the successful restaurant group has donated its time and resources to the William Jay Society, Ronald McDonald House, St. Andrew’s School, Benedictine Military School, Live Oak Public Libraries, Urban Hope Savannah, Savannah Jaycees, Jacob G. Smith School, St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Tybee Post Theatre, Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, American Diabetes Association, Junior Achievement of Georgia, and more.

“We’re so proud of the roots we’ve put down here and we’re looking forward to another 10 years of doing business in Savannah and further defining our brand and philanthropic initiatives with community partners that align with our core mission and values,” said Jennifer Huskey. “We are always happy to give back to the community which has given so much to us.”
