Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient & Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Head and Neck Cancer Support Group – Understanding the Healing Benefits of Massage Therapy

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon

Savannah radio stations 98.7 The River and WTKS News Radio 97.7 FM and 1290 AM will present Savannah’s annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon to benefit the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah. Featured hosts will be morning radio personalities Murphy, Sam, and Jodi, along with Bill Edwards and Mark Robertson. The radiothon will feature inspiring stories of hope and healing from local families. Listeners will have an opportunity to donate to the Willett Children’s Hospital.

Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend. Vibrant Well-Being: A Workshop for Mindfulness, Stress Reduction, and Work-Life Balance

9. a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 27, Mercer University School of Medicine’s Savannah campus, 1250 East 66th Street (adjacent to the campus of Memorial University Medical Center).

Learn to manage stress and achieve a healthy balance between work and personal life at “Vibrant Well-Being: A Workshop for Mindfulness, Stress Reduction, and Work-Life Balance.” Jacqueline Huntly, M.D., MPH, will lead the workshop. Mindfulness is the practice of intentionally bringing your attention into the present moment in a caring, nonjudgmental way. The workshop will introduce participants to breath awareness, sitting and walking meditation, and mindful body awareness and relaxation. They will also learn how to take a mindful approach to mindset, stress reduction, nutrition, and sleep habits. Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, August 27, Memorial University Medical Center

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit.
