Savannah Children’s Museum will host a day of workshops focused on healthy living to kick of their new Health and Wellness initiatives and celebrate becoming a nationally recognized Let’s Move! museum. The event, called Healthy Me, will take place on Saturday, September 3rd from 9 am to 2 pm at Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.

“The Savannah Children’s Museum is invested in bringing hands-on edible education to the community, exposing children to gardening and fresh food, providing them with tools to incorporate healthy foods into their diets as well as promoting movement as a joyful and lighthearted affair that can be enjoyed every day,” said Jesse Rosenblum, Savannah Children’s Museum Nutrition and Garden Program Coordinator.

“The earlier we reach our littlest citizens in meaningful ways through multi-faceted initiatives and encourage healthy habits, the greater the chance that they grow to be happy, thriving members of society.  We are committed to being part of the larger change that’s happening in Savannah in regards to wellness, providing opportunities for positive growth and bettering the lives of our neighbors.”

The Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah will be on-site with veggie relay races and bowling plus fitness bingo, Grow.Eat.Repeat. will be sharing lessons about composting and using food scraps to create nutrient rich soil for plants and Yogi Palz will have yoga classes promoting health and balance geared for children ages 2.5 to 12 years of age. Healthy Savannah will also be available to provide tips on ways to stay physically fit in our community.

In addition to these partner workshops, Savannah Children’s Museum educators will be leading interactive programming at several of the museum exhibits that encourage healthy living and will be discussing new programs for the Fall such as Cooking Matters, the Mobile Greenhouse and the Charlie Cart.
