Savannah Collecting Donations to Send Louisiana Flood Victims

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, August 24th, 2016

A local effort is underway to help those affected by the recent floods in Louisiana. With the devastation being called the “thousand-year storm,” nearly 100,000 Louisiana residents are displaced. Savannah is stepping up to help our southern neighbors in need.

The people behind this effort are asking the community to drop their donations at the following locations (listed below) this week during regular business hours, so they can be loaded onto an 18-wheel truck on Saturday, August 27, and delivered to Louisiana. Organizers will be at Nine Line Apparel located at 1732 E. President St. on Friday, August 26, from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., as a last chance for everyone to drop off donations.  All items will be delivered to a verified point of contact in Baton Rouge, La.

Needed items include cleaning items, clothing, baby items, pet food, hand trucks, wheelbarrows, nonperishable food, toiletries, linens, and monetary donations to assist with rebuilding (full list below).
