Friday, September 2nd, 2016

The Critz Tybee Run Fest has attracted a large number of participants and supporters for the past several years, with its unique, 2-day format, combining 5 races to total a 26.2-mile marathon distance. 2017 marks the sixth year in the current format, with the 5K night run, 10K, Half- Marathon, 2.8-mile Beach Run, 1 Mile Fun Run and the Kiddie Run, for the smallest runners.

Each year, Critz Tybee Run Fest donates all accumulated net profits to several area non-profits. These community grants are made possible from race entries and sponsorships from a large variety of race partners: http://critztybeerun.com/sponsors. Since inception, Critz Tybee Run Fest has granted nearly half a million dollars to organizations that foster education and healthy living in the Coastal Empire.

Local businesses on Tybee Island, Savannah’s Beach community, are getting an economic boost during the low tourist season in February, with participants that are frequenting restaurants, shops, and hotels, and not to mention paying for parking. Thousands of people are populating Tybee Island on a weekend that would normally not see many visitors.

“It’s a win-win for everyone,” stated Dale Critz Jr., founder of the Critz Tybee Run Fest, “participants enjoy doing something healthy, area businesses benefit during their off season, and local non-profits receive funding.”
