Nancy Fullbright, vice president of media relations at Abshire Public Relations, recently presented on a panel discussion in Athens, Ga. in honor of the 40th anniversary of the University of Georgia Women’s Studies Program.

Fullbright began her career in 1997 as a publications specialist for the Women’s Studies Program and discussed ways she worked to promote the department’s events and activities. She was joined by Patricia Del Rey, former director, and Heather Kleiner, former associate director.

"I learned many valuable PR lessons as a ‘newbie’ -- ones I have carried with me to this day: the importance of collaboration and cross promoting, the importance of tenacity, and the importance of teamwork,” Fullbright said. “I was certainly the most junior member of the team and the most green, but always felt like I had something important to offer."

Before joining APR, Fullbright served as a corporate communications specialist with Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. and also worked in public relations for a number of universities, including University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology and Mercer University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and a Master of Mass Communication degree from the University of Georgia.
