The Savannah Community Foundation, Inc. Announces Directors and Officers for 2016-2017

The Savannah Community Foundation, Inc., a philanthropic nonprofit organization through which individuals, families, charities and businesses support the Savannah community, is pleased to announce its new officers and board of directors for 2016-2017.

The Savannah Community Foundation, Inc., recently welcomed Hurley S. (“Trey”) Cook III, Robert L. McCorkle, III and Drew Hunt as new members of its board of directors. Continuing as directors are Jennifer Abshire, Christopher Cay, Linda J. Evans, Justin A. Godchaux, John C. Helmken II, Amy R. Henderson, Esq., Russell C. Jacobs, III, Michael F. Kemp, Al Kennickell, Jr., Stephen S. Leonard, CPA, Frank S. Macgill, Esq., Stephen W. Schwarz, Esq., Larry Sprague, Esq., and Michael C. Traynor.  The Community Foundation also recognized and thanked outgoing board members Dale C. Critz, Jr. for 20 years of service on the Community Foundation’s board of directors and James R. Hungerpiller for six years of service.

The 2016-2017 officers of the Community Foundation are Michael C. Traynor, chairman, Linda J. Evans, immediate past chair, K. Russell Simpson, Esq., president, John C. Helmken II, vice president, Frank S. Macgill, Esq., treasurer, Stephen S. Leonard, CPA, treasurer, and Michael F. Kemp, assistant treasurer.  

The Community Foundation manages more than 220 separate philanthropic funds totaling over $25 million in value. In its last calendar year, the Foundation made charitable distributions in excess of $2.5 million through several types of fund agreements, including donor advised funds, endowment funds, donor designated funds, scholarship funds, field of interest funds, and unrestricted funds.
