West Rehab & Sports Medicine, an award-winning provider of physical therapy and wellness services, is pleased to announce the addition of dry needling to its growing list of cutting-edge rehabilitation services.

Over the last several years, dry needling has become a popular technique used by physical therapists to relieve pain or improve range of motion, often as part of a larger treatment plan. Therapists utilizing the dry needling technique on patients use a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, including muscular and connective tissues, as well as nerves, for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.

“The goal of dry needling is to ultimately improve a patient’s activity and function while reducing chronic pain,” said Erin Magaw, said a certified physical therapist at West Rehab.  “The needle allows a physical therapist to target tissues not manually reachable. Research and successful practice continue to show the dry needling method as an effective solution to successfully speed up a patient’s return to active rehabilitation.”
