YMCA Receives Gift from Georgia-Pacific Savannah Gypsum

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia, has received a $2,000 gift from Georgia-Pacific Savannah Gypsum. This generous contribution will provide financial assistance to the Y Readers program which serves five urban elementary schools in the Savannah Chatham County Public School District.
 
The Y Readers program is a free afterschool academic achievement program that helps students who are reading below grade level or at high risk of falling behind. The program is an extended school day for these promise students, helping them raise or maintain their academic standing, increase their reading scores, and improve self-efficacy. The program is slated to serve 216 students in the 2016-2017 school year.
