Nordic Logistics and Warehousing, a proud member of AGRO Merchants Group, announced plans to develop a new cold storage and repack facility in Savannah, Georgia, USA. In April 2016, AGRO and Nordic completed a 200,000 square-foot expansion to their existing Savannah facility, representing the second investment in the market. The new facility, which will initially be built to 175,00 square feet, will be adjacent to current Nordic site with additional land available for future expansion.

The facility will have 7 multi-temperature rooms with 7,000 total pallet positions, 25,000 square-feet for repacking and bagging operations, and multi-use space set aside to support onsite fumigation and ripening. With 25 doors and 85 foot docks, the facility will support efficient product unloading, receiving, inspection, and grading. Construction is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2017 with operations to begin in the fourth quarter.

Rusty Lucca, CEO of Lucca Freezer and Cold Storage said, “AGRO Merchants Group sees great opportunity to develop further capabilities at the Port of Savannah. Many of our customers are looking for warehouse and packing services in Savannah to more efficiently serve the Southeastern United States.” AGRO Merchants Group is committed to further growth in Savannah and continues to invest in modern assets, industry-leading technologies and value-added service offerings to ensure the highest quality supply chain management standards in the industry.

The new facility will be developed and operated with resource expertise from Lucca Freezer and Cold Storage in Vineland, New Jersey. Acquired by AGRO Merchants in 2014, the Lucca facility serves as AGRO Merchant’s flagship U.S. perishable facility serving customers in the U.S. and around the world.
