BankSouth, a top performing community bank in the nation, donated $20,000 to the United Way of the Coastal Empire to support the nonprofit’s response and disaster relief efforts related to Hurricane Matthew on Friday, October 14, 2016. This donation will be in addition to BankSouth’s employee donations to the annual United Way campaign currently underway, and 100 percent of the donation will go toward helping United Way’s local efforts to provide assistance to victims affected by the disaster.

“The United Way is the backbone to many nonprofit agencies in this community who rely on their support to work directly with those individuals who are in desperate need of our help for basic human needs such as food, clothing, shelter and so much more,” said 2016 United Way Campaign Chair and BankSouth Advisory Board Chair Kay Ford. “Unfortunately, our beautiful city and her citizens were significantly impacted by Hurricane Matthew, and it is our hope at BankSouth that our donation will encourage other area businesses to dig deep and do the same, above and beyond what they may already be doing for this year’s BE THE ONE campaign. We all have a stake in the swift and speedy recovery of Savannah.”
