Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation to Postpone Fall Ramble

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, October 5th, 2016

The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and Historic Savannah Foundation today announced that the Fall Ramble, scheduled for October 7-9 in Savannah, will be postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. According to Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), the storm is expected to remain a powerful hurricane through at least Wednesday, with tropical storm to hurricane force winds possible late this week, especially near the coast on Friday into Saturday.

“We’re disappointed to postpone the Fall Ramble, but we cannot put people in harm’s way and we must allow time for our generous homeowners and volunteers to tend to their preparation needs,” said Daniel Carey, president & CEO of Historic Savannah Foundation.  “HSF and the Georgia Trust conferred today and plans are for the Ramble to take place next year on October 6-8.  In a statement from Mark McDonald with the Georgia Trust, current ticket holders can receive a credit for next year’s Ramble or request a refund.”

The 2017 Fall Ramble in Savannah will feature tours of Downtown, Ardsley Park, Midtown, Magnolia Park, and the Moon River district. Rambles typically feature exclusive tours and social events in historic properties not usually open to the public.
