Tanger Outlets and Memorial Health “Pinking of the Fountain”

11 a.m., Saturday October 1, 200 Tanger Outlet Blvd, Pooler

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tanger Outlets and Memorial Health will host a "pinking" of the fountains in the center of the Tanger Outlets shopping complex. Tanger Outlets will sell Powerful Pink Cards for $5. The card gives you a 25-percent discount off a single item at participating Tanger Outlets stores. You can use the card as many times as you'd like throughout the month of October. The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center receives a portion of the funds, along with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Powerful Pink Cards will be sold at Shopper Services and participating stores throughout the month of October.

Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. The One Hundred’s 21st Annual Gala fundraiser to benefit the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah will be held Friday, October 7, at the Plantation Club at the Landings on Skidaway Island. Cocktails and a silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., live entertainment will follow as well as a program honoring this year’s grateful patients: the Armitage quadruplets. Born two months early, the quadruplets’ parents, Sherri and Paul Armitage, credit the team of doctors and nurses at the Willett Children’s Hospital for the excellent care the babies received. 15th Annual Patrick’s Ride

More than 50 people will pedal from Savannah to Augusta to raise money for cancer programs in the 15th annual Patrick’s Ride. Riders will depart from the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah at 7 a.m. and arrive at the Marriott in Augusta around 7 p.m. Also known as the “Harvest of Hope Double Metric Century,” this 140-mile bicycle ride raises money for adults and children with cancer at the ACI. Basic Breastfeeding Class

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
