Servant Leadership Institute Hosts Workshop on the Payback of Trust in Business

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, October 7th, 2016

Many wonder—how did Art Barter grow Datron World Communications from a $10 million company to a $200 million company in six years. Ask him and his answer is simple—serving and trusting others.

The Servant Leadership Institute, in partnership with Concordia University, invites business professionals to join Barter, founder and CEO of the Servant Leadership Institute and owner and CEO of Datron World Communications, Inc., and Stephen M.R. Covey, best-selling author of The Speed of Trust and Smart Trust, for a half-day leadership event on servant leadership and the speed of trust.

“Servant Leadership at the Speed of Trust” will reveal how trust enables organizations to work faster and get better results.

The event will be held at Concordia University, DeNault Auditorium, 1530 Concordia West, Irvine, California 92612 on Friday, October 14, 2016, 7:15 am - 12:45 pm. Attendees can register online here.

Successful companies like Datron, Whole Foods and Southwest Airlines all have one thing in common—they employ servant leadership, a leadership where instead of the people working to serve the leader, the leader exists to serve the people. Attendees will learn how trust is the hidden variable that can provide the leverage required to gain a distinct strategic advantage.

“I (have become) increasingly convinced that the practices of servant leadership and trust are inextricably linked… Trust is to servant leadership what profit is to a business. It’s the outcome. It’s the core measure,” said Covey.

This half-day workshop features a networking breakfast with an opportunity to talk with the speakers personally. The breakfast is followed by the program which will show attendees how to create a work environment that is trusting and highly motivating.

“We want to help people discover how to foster an environment of trust and respect at all levels in an organization,” said Barter. “We’re passionate about helping people find meaning and purpose in their work as they achieve success with servant leadership.”

Barter and Covey are available for media interviews prior to and the day of the event. Some topics they can discuss include:

-how organizations can measure trust,

-how Barter was able to grow his company without any mergers, acquisitions or debt,

-how to accelerate trust within an organization,

-the difference between positional and servant leadership, and,

-how to have smart, not gullible, trust.
