15th Annual Patrick’s Ride Moved to November 5th

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, November 4th, 2016

Patrick’s Ride has been rescheduled after Hurricane Matthew interfered with the original date, and will now be held Saturday, November 5. The starting location for the race has also been changed to Memorial Health Rincon, 241 Silverwood Commercial Court, Rincon, GA, behind the Sunoco station at Highway 21 North and Silverlake Drive, in order to avoid conflicts with the Rock n Roll Marathon.

Patrick’s Ride will begin at Memorial Health Rincon. On Saturday, November 5, about 50 people will pedal from Rincon to Augusta to raise money for cancer. Cyclists from around the region will participate in the 15th annual Patrick’s Ride. Riders will depart from Memorial Health Rincon at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at the Marriott in Augusta around 5:30 p.m. This 120-mile bicycle ride raises money for adults and children with cancer at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute and the Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.  Funds raised support cancer services and the annual Harvest of Hope retreat for people with cancer and their families. Since its inception, Patrick’s Ride has raised more than $540,000, benefited more than 1,600 retreat participants, assisted in creating a family-friendly outpatient children’s cancer waiting room, provided program support for a dedicated children’s cancer nurse navigator and counseling services, and provided patient assistance for families such as fuel cards and meal assistance.

The ride was started by the late Patrick Booton, a cancer fighter, athlete, and retired medical physicist who worked at the ACI for 25 years. To make a donation, go to www.patricksride.com. For more information, contact Anne Cordeiro at 912-350-8934 or [email protected].
