Ameris Bank’s 7th annual company-wide Helping Fight Hunger food drive initiative collected more than 11,000 non-perishable food items locally which were donated to five food banks within the region. Across Ameris Bank’s Southeastern footprint, 825,891 items were collected and donated.
The 7th Annual Helping Fight Hunger was held during the month of October at all seven Ameris Bank branches throughout the Coastal Empire, including Savannah, Pooler, Richmond Hill, Hinesville, and Rincon. Non-profit organizations benefitting from the food drive include America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, Loaves and Fishes, Richmond Hill United Methodist Church, St. Boniface Catholic Church and Live Oak Church of God.
“I am so proud of the efforts of our Ameris Bank team, coming together to make a positive impact in the communities in which we serve,” said Greater Savannah Market President Jenny Gentry. “It is my hope that this initiative not only directly benefits families within our region, but also brings attention to the growing issue of those who go hungry on a daily basis.”
Ameris Bancorp, the parent company of Ameris Bank, will contribute a monetary donation to each local food bank that receives contributions during the food drive. Ameris Bank collectively donated a total of $100,000 to local food banks.
