Hospitality, Tourism & Marketing Explorer Post Kicks Off Program at Woodville Tompkins

On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, an introductory meeting of the Hospitality, Tourism & Marketing Explorer Post program was held at Woodville Tompkins Career & Technical High School. North Point Hospitality sponsors this Explorer Post and this year’s group consists of 23 students who are serious about pursuing careers in Hospitality after graduation. Their teacher, Dr. Martin Hand said, “These students are bright, enthusiastic and ready to learn more about their career options. We are very appreciative of this partnership.”
At this initial meeting, the students shared their future aspirations and heard each adult’s personal testimonial about their college experiences and career pathway. Testimonials were shared by Paul Komanecky, General Manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Savannah Midtown; Jake Warner, Executive Chef & Food and Beverage Director for the Homewood Suites by Hilton Savannah Historic District/Riverfront; Gina Peper, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for North Point Hospitality; Melaina Jaudon, Director of Sales for the DoubleTree by Hilton & Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Historic District; Barbara Foley, Marketing & Outreach Director for the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America; Janine Hand, former Director of The Great Hall in Baton Rouge, LA and Mickey Minick, Vice President of Sales for Old Savannah Tours.
Lead Exploring advisor, Paul Komanecky, General Manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Savannah Midtown said, “We are very happy to be part of this excellent career mentoring program that gives us the chance to have a positive impact on the employment opportunities for local youth. In fact, we have hired many Woodville Tompkins graduates as a direct result of our participation in the Exploring program.”
