Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient & Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. 15th Annual Patrick’s Ride

7 a.m., Saturday, November 5, Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

More than 50 people will pedal from Savannah to Augusta to raise money for cancer programs in the 15th annual Patrick’s Ride. Riders will depart from Memorial Health Rincon, 241 Silverwood Commercial Court, Rincon, Georgia, behind the Sunoco stations at Highway 21 North and Silverlake Drive at 7 a.m. They will arrive at the Marriott in Augusta around 7 p.m. Also known as the “Harvest of Hope Double Metric Century,” this 140-mile bicycle ride raises money for adults and children with cancer at the ACI. Savannah Rock N’ Roll Marathon

The Memorial Health Rock N Roll Marathon team is raising money for the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah at Memorial University Medical Center. Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 5, Memorial University Medical Center

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Walk With a Doc

8:30 a.m., Saturday, November 5, Daffin Park (meet at the corner of Waters and Washington)

Memorial Health physicians will present a brief health talk followed by a walk along the 1.5-mile trail. Walk at your own pace and chat with a doctor along the way. The walk is free and open to all ages. No registration is required, but a doctor’s OK is required if you suffer from orthopaedic issues, heart conditions, or you are more than 20 percent over your ideal body weight. This group is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their caregivers. The group provides a variety of educational and support programs. Cupid’s Arrow Annual Golf Classic

This tournament raises funds for the John A. (Jack) Kolbush Memorial Fund. All proceeds benefit pediatric oncology and hematology patients and their families at the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah. The tournament features captain’s choice play with a shotgun start. Golfers enjoy a boxed lunch, awards ceremony with heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. Take Steps Savannah – Crohn’s and Colitis Walk

This support group is open to breast cancer patients and their caregivers in the greater Savannah, Hilton Head, and Coastal Georgia area. The meetings feature presentations from the local medical community, are informal, and are conducted in a discussion format to encourage participation by all in attendance. Baby Basics

The Next Generation’s Barbecue, Brews, and Bluegrass

This outdoor festival features live music and family fun to benefit the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah at Memorial University Medical Center. Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
