Pin Point Heritage Museum will host a 5th Birthday celebration on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 6 pm to 10 pm. The event will take place at Pin Point Heritage Museum, 9924 Pin Point Ave., Savannah, GA 31406, on the scenic Moon River.

Pin Point Heritage Museum’s 5th Birthday will include a lowcountry boil, a signature cocktail called Pin Point punch, birthday cake and entertainment provided by Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church Choir. The attire for the evening is “Denim and Bling: A Pin Point Thing,” so guests should wear a dressy top, jeans and accent jewelry.

"We are so excited to be celebrating this momentous occasion with the Pin Point and greater Savannah community,” said Tania Smith-Jones, Site Administrator for Pin Point Heritage Museum. “We've been touched by all of the support and positive feedback we've received about our site, which truly aims to bring a living history of family ties, perseverance and cultural understanding to each visitor. We want to say thank you for helping us build the foundation for a great future."

Pin Point Heritage Museum is located in the former A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory. The community was founded in 1896 by freed slaves after the Civil War. The former factory has been transformed into an educational center for visitors to authentically learn about the Gullah/Geechee culture directly from residents who grew up in the small, close-knit community. Guests can discover the residents’ unique lifeways, from daily life to religion, language and food.

Pin Point Heritage Museum recently won the Coastal Museums Association award for Excellence in Education & Interpretation. The award exists to recognize exceptional educational and cultural programming delivered by Savannah area museums.

Tickets for this event are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 912.247.7991 or online at bit.ly/PinPoint5.
