The Savannah City Amateur will be played December 3 & 4 on the Donald Ross course at Bacon Park Golf Course and is open to any amateur golfer with a verifiable handicap.

The City Am was originally scheduled to be played in October, but Hurricane Matthew forced the tournament to be postponed. The City Am has been Savannah’s premier amateur golf tournament for decades, and Bacon Park has been the tournament’s host throughout its history.

Some of Savannah’s most accomplished golfers have won the Savannah City Amateur, including reigning US Senior Open champion Gene Sauers and former US Senior Amateur champion Doug Hanzel. Divisions in the 36-hole 2016 City Am will include Championship Division, Men's Flighted Division (net competition played from the blue tees), Senior Championship Division (age 50 and older played from the blue tees) and Legends Championship Division (age 75 and older and played from the white tees).

The Championship Division will be played from the gold tees and will produce the overall City Am champion, but gross and net champions will be crowned in the other divisions. 2016 SAVANNAH CITY AMATEUR REGISTRATION DETAILS:

The $125 entry fee includes Friday evening welcome reception, prizes, carts/greens fees both days of tournament play, range balls and lunch following play. Participants can register on-line at www.baconparkgolf.com or by calling the Bacon Park Golf Shop at 354-2625. 

Divisions: 
Championship (Gross) – The Savannah City Amateur Championship division will play from the Gold tees in 36-hole medal play. The Savannah City Amateur Champion will be the player with the lowest 36 hole gross total. 

Men’s Flighted (Net) - Men in the Flighted Division will play from the Blue tees in a 36-Hole medal play format. Players will be flighted according to handicap index. 

Senior Championship (Gross) - Men 50 years of age and older who wish to compete for the Senior Savannah City Amateur Champion title will play from the Blue tees in a 36-hole medal play format. Senior championship flight will be a gross competition with no handicap. 

Senior (Net) - Men 50 years of age and older who wish to compete for the flighted championship will play from the Blue Tees is a 36-hole medal play format. Players will be flighted according to handicap index. 

Legends —Men 65 and older who wish to compete for the Savannah City Amateur Legends Champion title will play from the White tees in a 36- Hole stroke play format. Players will be flighted according to handicap index. The Legends City Amateur Champion will be the player with the lowest 36-Hole gross total. Prizes will be awarded to both gross and net winners in this flight.
