Two Hundred Club Reschedules Red, White & Blue BBQ, Changes Format November 17th

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016

The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire’s second annual Red, White and Blue BBQ has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17 and will take on a new format.

The fundraiser had to be postponed due to complications brought on by Hurricane Matthew. Originally intended as a family-oriented affair, the event will now serve as a thank-you to area first responders for their service. The Two Hundred Club intends to use the opportunity to provide a meal of barbecued pulled pork, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and a roll to every on duty police officer, sheriff’s deputy, firefighter and EMS worker in Chatham County in appreciation of their service.

“Due to the complications and delays related to post-hurricane activity, we regrettably had to cancel the event at Ellis square,” Two Hundred Club President Mark Dana said.

The barbecue will be a sizable endeavor, though, and the nonprofit entity is in need of financial assistance. Community members and area businesses are encouraged to donate to the event to help the Two Hundred Club accomplish its goal of providing every on-duty first responder in the county with a well-deserved meal while also supporting the family members of those who lost their loved ones protecting us. Donations start at $20; a $400 donation will feed an entire police precinct or fire/EMS station.

The Two Hundred Club is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that provides immediate and significant financial assistance for families of fallen and critically injured law-enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical service personnel, as well as college educations for the family members of first responders who die in the line of duty.

All donations are tax-deductible and will directly support the families of fallen heroes. The club has given over $1.6 million to support local families of fallen and critically injured first responders.
