Telfair Museums announced that Georgia U.S. Senator David Perdue and his wife, Bonnie, will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of the 37th annual Telfair Ball on February 25, 2017 at Telfair Museums. The 2017 Ball Chair, Swann Seiler said, “We are so grateful to have Senator David Perdue and his wife join us in the Hostess city for this annual fundraising gala.”

David Perdue, the junior U.S. Senator from Georgia, has over 40 years of business experience as the former CEO of Reebok athletic brand and Dollar General, where he created thousands of quality jobs and helped working families.  As the son of Georgia school teachers, David was taught the importance of a good education and community service. Senator Perdue and his wife Bonnie, also a former school teacher, whom he had met in the first grade, have been married for 43 years.

“The Senator and his wife are deeply committed to provide better educational and cultural experiences for all children. They are supporters of institutions, like Telfair Museums, that provide arts education through their on-site and outreach programs,” said Seiler. “Telfair is a dynamic organization that strives to make art accessible to the community.”

“Telfair Museums is the oldest public art museum in the South and is a cornerstone of Georgia’s cultural foundation,” said Seiler. “Telfair Museums feel very honored to host the Senator and his wife as honorary co-chairs of the Ball.”

This prestigious annual gala is the largest annual fundraiser for the museum with proceeds from the Telfair Ball directly funding the museum’s educational and outreach efforts, exhibitions, and other related programs. “The ball is instrumental in allowing the three museum sites to remain open to the public, ” said Seiler.

The 2017 Telfair Ball theme is Modern Lights, encompassing the stunning power of Nick Cave’s Soundsuits, and the soaring dynamism of Anne Ferrer’s Hot Pink, two amazing exhibitions of contemporary art that will be on view at the Jepson Center beginning on January 27, 2017. Shedding modern lights on the traditional Telfair Ball, the 37th Annual Telfair Ball promises an experience like never before, transforming the old guard into the avant-garde through fantastic entertainment and a special evening of artful surprises.
