West Chatham YMCA's Child Learning Center Receives Quality Rating

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, November 11th, 2016

The Child Learning Center at the West Chatham YMCA received word this week that we have been awarded a 2 star Quality Rating from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. Georgia DECAL awards Quality Ratings through a voluntary review program to recognize Child Learning Centers committed to continuous quality improvement to benefit the children in their care.

Similar to a rating system for a service related industry, such as a restaurant, the Quality Rated system holds participants to high level of expectation. Quality Rated programs must meet standards beyond Georgia’s minimum licensing requirements. The West Chatham YMCA CLC joins an elite list of facilities with this rating, only about 18% of an estimated 5,000 eligible childcare facilities.

As a Quality Rated program, parents, children and families can expect that our teachers are well trained and qualified. Our team is empowered and capable of customizing their classrooms to suit the needs of those in their care, nurturing their potential and building confidence in the classroom.  Under the direction of the CLC’s Director, Courtney Robinson, the West Chatham CLC demonstrated that our program provides a safe, healthy place for children to learn, grow and thrive. Our program emphasizes physical, emotional and social development while involving the family in the process.

“I am incredibly proud of Courtney and her staff at our Child Learning Center,” says Gina Casagrande, West Chatham YMCA Branch Director. “Our teachers are the heart and soul of our program; they come to work with a passion and drive to encourage and nurture these children beyond what is expected of them. I could not be more excited to share this news with our families and community and celebrate their dedication.”
