Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016

The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire has partnered with the 2016 Savannah Food and Wine Festival for their Whisky at the Whitman event. This new event for the Festival will be held at the Whitman Mansion, 611 Whitaker St., on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. All of the proceeds from this evening will be donated to the Two Hundred Club which provides immediate financial assistance to the family members of local law enforcement officers, EMS, and firefighters who lose their lives or who are critically injured in the line-of-duty.

This unique tasting experience will not only benefit the Two Hundred Club, a 501(c)(3) organization that serves eighteen counties in Georgia and two counties in South Carolina, but also offers an unparalleled opportunity to sample some of the best brands of whisky available. The Whitman Mansion is a stately and charming renovated Victorian mansion in the heart of the historic district with classic architecture, stylishly tasteful furnishings and lavish ornamentation which is rarely open to the public.  This opportunity to experience its sophisticated ambience with top-of-the-line chefs creating a number of great food tastings and a cigar bar guarantees a night for the true connoisseur of all things great.

Whitman Mansion owner Steve Buckner said, “We are really looking forward to hosting this relaxing, upscale event. Guests will have the unique opportunity to experience expertly paired food and whisky while learning about how to properly taste and appreciate fine spirits. It’ll be a very special experience.”

“We are very grateful to the Food and Wine Festival and The Whitman for making this event possible,” Two Hundred Club President Mark Dana said. “Without the support of area business, entities and community organizations like these, we could not do what we do for the families of first responders.”

Tickets for this event cost $150 each and can be purchased on the tickets page at www.savannahfoodandwinefest.com.
