Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient & Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, December 3, Memorial University Medical Center

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. The Anderson Cancer Institute Luncheon: A Gold Medal Event

10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, December 8, Savannah International Trade and Convention Center

With the Summer Olympics in Rio fresh in everyone’s mind, the ACI Luncheon: A Gold Medal Event offers an opportunity to revisit American Olympic greatness with an appearance by Shannon Miller, the country’s most decorated Olympic gymnast and leader of the historic “Magnificent Seven,” which claimed team gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Shannon, an ovarian cancer survivor, advocates for awareness and early detection of this disease. Funds raised will support advances in technology, research & education, and patient assistance at the Anderson Cancer Institute. The event is made up of two separately ticketed parts. A VIP Package which includes both the VIP Reception and Book Signing at 10 a.m. and the Luncheon, which begins at 11:30 a.m., are $150 per person. Individual reception/book signing tickets are $75 per person and individual luncheon tickets are $100 per person. Baby Basics

Caregiver Coffee

Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
