Friday, December 9th, 2016

This week, the International Inbound Travel Association awarded Savannah the opportunity to host its 2019 Summit. The convention is expected to bring approximately 250 tour operators and suppliers and nearly 200 room nights to the Hilton Savannah DeSoto between Feb. 3 and 6 of 2019.

IITA inbound tour operators, also known as receptive operators, are U.S.-based companies which specialize in creating, marketing and selling U.S. travel products to international travelers.  As the official host of the Summit, Savannah will receive enormous exposure to the leaders in this industry.

Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli is pleased with the announcement of Savannah’s winning bid and anticipates the opportunity to showcase all that the city has to offer. “Savannah continues to see significant growth in the amount of international visitors and groups to our city,” he says. “That comes, in part, with the rising popularity of our destination among the more discerning travelers from around the world and the many accolades that we receive from national and international travel publications and websites.  Hosting the IITA conference will give us even more exposure to the companies that are handling those groups coming into the U.S. and gives rise to the opportunity to attract even more foreign visitors.”
