Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, January 20th, 2017

The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire will honor some of the area’s most courageous first responders at the 2017 Valor Awards. This event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at the Charles H. Morris Center, 10 E Broad St. in downtown Savannah.

The Two Hundred Club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that immediately responds with financial support to the families of fallen or critically injured first responders. To date, the Two Hundred Club has given over $1.7 million to the families of first responders who have suffered serious injuries or death in the line of duty.

Each year, the Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire honors first responders from the 20 counties they serve within Georgia and South Carolina who have exhibited extreme valor during their performance of duties. The Valor Awards are presented to law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel who acted with abundant strength of mind and spirit when confronted with extreme danger, knowing their personal health and well-being were in jeopardy.

The 2016 Valor Award recipients were Georgia State Patrol Senior Trooper Kelvin Carswell, Master Firefighter Christopher Lamb and Advanced Firefighter Justin Goldberg. The 2017 winners will be announced before the awards ceremony on Feb. 23.

“The Two Hundred Club aims to express the community’s well-deserved gratitude to the families of our fallen heroes,” Board President Mark Dana said. “First responders put their lives on the line day after day to keep our community safe. It is up to us, the community they are protecting, to honor their bravery and service, and recognize the importance of these law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.”

Tickets to this event cost $25 per member or guest and $50 per board member. To purchase tickets, please visit www.twohundredclub.org/2017-valor-awards/ and complete the order form at the bottom of the page.
